Girls of MG Gone Wild

Dear world,

We know (hope) you’re still listening. Today was our first grand day trip adventure (spoiler alert: there may be more) we went to Köln. But before that could happen- we had a major breakthrough in our search for suitable German men. #foundourhusbandsy’all. Do you approve?

Unfortunely, we had to leave our hubbies at the post office where we found them. They aren’t the most mobile #we’llbeback. #don’tmissustoomuch. 

Just an hour away from MG, the beautiful city of Köln is home to a wonderful Dom- that isn’t a dome, it’s actually just a cathedral. This one had a surprise funkay stained glass window with a bunch of random squares of color. Pretty darn modern if ya ask us. We also met Sophia’s friend Elizabeth- another TA from this area who goofed around Cologne with us.

After the church we headed over to the smallest museum in the world. #sorrynotsorry. Although it advertised impressionist art from Berlin it was actually filled mostly with sad portraits from WWI of dying children in their mothers arms. After the most uplifting beginning to an exhibition ever, there was some impressionist art to leave you wanting more than just half an hour of it. #expand. #moreprettypicturesofthecountrysideplease

From there we took a stroll (IN THE SUN) to a cute little bakery with VEGAN dessert(s). #treatyoself 

Some cake and a few coffees later we power jumped to a little side street with a bunch of neat stores, one with live chickens in the window, and our favorite tag of Köln: DUO.

In preparation for Ms. Kralik’s (Kara’s) arrival we got ourselves into a pretty little heap of happiness.

From there we traveled to meet Emma and Anna- more lovely ladies- for a wild night out on the town. We managed to find a restaurant to suit all of us, including those with “dietary restrictions” #Sophia’sstillanobie #glutenfreeandveganishard and spent a good ole’ time talking about Americans and PDA in Germany over some yummy food and beer. Then all of us piled back into Sophia’s “apartment” (#sarcasm), which was another adventure all in of itself. Think one room that is the bedroom, dining room, kitchen, and study with 6 ppl and all of our stuffs from this trip. 

Another big day trip in store for us tomorrow! Stay tuned.

die Wohngemeinschaft (WG) = shared apartment, "flat share"

Viele Studenten wohnen in Wohngemeinschaften. Es ist billiger als allein zu wohnen. Aber wenn du mit deiner Freund/Freundin wohnst, die Wohnung heißt "Flat" und es ist nicht mehr eine Wohngemeinschaft. WGs sind anders als Wohnungen in Amerika, weil Leute verschiedene Erwartungen hat, zum Beispiel über wer bezahlt für Lebensmittel.
