Spread out the stairs

Oh hello there,

Fancy running into you here...on this very special holiday, Three Kings Day! We're back from a glorious day that started out with us sitting on this here snake (shown above). We found this Schlange (snake) on the way to the English Gardens, which is really just a huge park with a river, lake, beer garden, greek dome, and some sneaky surf boarders that we weren't able to track down. When it was FINALLY 12:30pm, we decided it was time for a drink and sat down with a hefty warm glass of Glühwein! Glühwein is a warm spiced wine drink, perfect for the early early afternoon.
Look how happy it made us:

It was also the most beautiful day that we've had here thus far. It was crisp and sunny with incredible clouds that reflected off the water. Lookie here...

With coffee and Thai food in our bellies, we were ready to hit up some churches. While searching for the entrance to the 306 steps we were looking for, we accidentally walked in on an elaborate Three Kings Day service full with ominous music, men dressed in fancy robs parading down the aisles, and incense wafting from them. After quietly creeping out, we found the quite obvious line leading to the top of Peterskirche (Peter's Church). From the top we got to see all of Munich in the most beautiful light with the sun setting behind us.

 306 creaking, narrow steps later...
After that we went Church hopping, similar to bar hopping but without the alcohol. We saw some spectacular churches from all different time periods all within a 10 minute walking distance from each other and then went to the Hofbräuhaus to look around! It was so goofy and such an experience- Thank you Gertrude for showing all of that to us.

Next on our agenda was a dinner at Xaver's apartment with his roommate, his roommate's friend, and Zia's cousin- Stephanie! We all talked, ate, and drank for over three hours as we traversed the language barrier with tons of laughter.

We've packed a lot in during these last few days, but tomorrow morning we're off to Schrobenhausen for some laid back time in a small bavarian town.

See ya on the flip side.

Word of the Day:

pinkeln: to pee

  1. Wow! I love your blog! Since I just discovered it 10 minutes ago (Patrick clued me in), I got to read all 6 entries in one sitting. It was awesome. And now I want more! It's -2 degrees outside right now, and I think the windchill brings it down to really really super cold-- so I'm ready to read more blog posts whenever you write them.
Also, I love all the photos...
Especially the one of Idalia and the sign-- and both of you with your favorite rug...

and of course the background photo-- that's a great one.

I can't wait to see you guys this summer!!
