Hello from the relaxing (and warm) world of beds!
We decided that our vacation was getting a bit too stressful and overbooked, so we came to Schrobenhausen for our vacation from vacation- which, in Idalia's phone, is "vacation from VACAY" (apparently she loves abbreviating "vacation" in all caps). But just kidding, we of course came here to visit Zia's Oma, but laying in bed last night, we realized how relaxing it really is here. #Zia'sOmaknitahatin1day #bakedacaketoo #undhatspazierengegangen #germanhashtag
We were even less productive than Zia's Oma today, but we did go on multiple nice walks. First, we headed towards the yarn store with Zia's Oma and decided that, in terms of Berge (mountains), we ain't got nothin' on Europe. #directquotefromIdalia
When we got back to the house, we made a good ass lunch. #directquotefromZia
We made an extravagant salad with couscous, chickpeas, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes. 'Twas delish terrif! Zia also made an omelet that she and her Oma enjoyed (Idalia's veganism is still in hiding/in the closet/playing hide and seek (#morequotesfromZia #doubleparentheses) aka Zia's Oma doesn't know that Idalia is vegan, and just thinks that she really doesn't like ice cream). We did make a vegan dessert though (even though we still called it Milch Reis- milk rice). We made rice pudding! WITH HAZELNUT MILK!!!!! #thankyouGermanyandSwitzerlandforthehazelnuts #usinghazelnutsright #livelovehazelnuts #cantlivewithoutthem #mustlivewiththemalwaysandforever #goodluckreadingthesehashtags #thanksforgettingthisfar #shoutouttoSavannahforcommentingonourhashtags #onetoShiratoo
After lunch, wir haben spazieren gegangen (we went on a walk). Unfortunately, it started out like this:
Look past our beautiful faces (if you can) at the giant garbage disposal facility, which happens to be right across from a giant field of literally steaming manure. Luckily, we eventually got here:
and (#duh) took another obligatory selfie, probably the fourth one of the day
We walked on a beautiful trail by a little river that runs on the edge of the town we're staying in. On our way back, we walked through the town again, only to be confronted by some reckless youth on electric bicycles/mini motorcycles/scooters. One of them was doing a wheelie (with his feet on the ground) right in front of us, it was trés impressive. All 500 of them decided to stop directly in front of us, so we couldn't escape the wrath of the preteen electric bike gang of Schrobenhausen. Gott sei Dank we made it back to Zia's Oma's place in one (aka two) piece(s).
(For the record, we are two individual human beings, despite the one blog, one story, and one name.)
Over dinner, we managed to have a long conversation, only in German, about politics, including a discussion about the Pope and what Zia's Oma thought of him.
While cleaning up after we had made another lovely dinner (in which we had taught Zia's Oma how to roast brussel sprouts), Zia's Oma told us that we currently are good housewives and, added bonus, we go to school too! #herwordsnotours #hearthatyoungGermanbachelors?!
(If our parents are reading this, HI!!, and you should be proud.)
Now it's time for so long (but we'll sing just one more song),
Zidalia
Word of the day:
die Wäsche = laundry
Heute haben wir unsere Wäsche gemacht. Wir sind froh, dass wir sauber Kleidung haben. Jetzt, trocknen die Kleidung in unserem Zimmer. Die Waschmaschine hat viele Auswahlen und wir wissen Celsius noch nicht. Es war schwierig über die Wäsche zu sprechen, als wir haben das Wort für "laundry" nicht gewusst.
WOWOWOWOWOW yall are 2 cool #missingyou #missingmyoma #andherbaking #crying #ithinkihavehazelnutsinmykitchen #kuchenoclock #livelovehazlenuts xxxooooo!!!
ReplyDeletebooo, just wrote a long comment about butterflies and it disapppeared. dude veganism is that the one where you don't dance? Veganism, is that the one where you're allergic to hats? Are there random potable drinking fountains around ingermany? There were where I was in der schweiz. Watch out for bears!
ReplyDeleteIt's true about the veganism, you know. Hat allergies, no dancing, and also your pits get really smelly in a good-for-bears way. They really like vegan pits.
ReplyDeleteAre you washing behind your ears every night? Please also eat lots of leafy green vegetables and I love you. And your blog is phenomenally soul-warming.
Love the blog! Love the photos! Love the two well-educated young women who are also so well accomplished in the art of housekeeping! Love the shout out to me and especially love the brilliant hashtags! #sometimesevenmothersgivegoodadvice
